NASS has officially launched NASS Anytime, a new digital learning platform designed to make high-quality spine education accessible anytime, anywhere. The streaming service replaces the former OnDemand model and offers subscribers more than 100 hours of educational content, including the NASS 2025 Annual Meeting recordings. From surgical technique videos and webinars to interactive courses and conference highlights, NASS Anytime is a sleek, modern platform to catch up with spine education.
According to Alan Hilibrand, MD, NASS Education Council Director, the goal was to fill the gaps between live meetings and ongoing professional development. “NASS Anytime helps fill the gaps between live, in-person events and the need for ongoing education throughout the year,” he said. “Not everyone can travel to every course or meeting, and even when they do, it’s easy to forget details over time. This gives members a way to stay engaged with high-quality spine education at their own pace, when and where it works for them. In some cases, NASS members may be able to watch hands-on courses to reinforce their knowledge of surgical techniques before going to the OR with a difficult case, and in the process get CME credit.”
The platform draws from NASS’ deep archive of video content while introducing a more flexible and intuitive experience. Members can create personalized playlists, search by topic or speaker, and track CME credits directly within the system.
“We had a lot of strong video content from past meetings, webinars, and demos that weren’t being used to their full potential,” Hilibrand explained. “At the same time, members have been asking for more flexible learning options and have struggled with navigating our existing video library. So we asked, ‘How can we make this content easier to access, more organized, and available on-demand?’ That’s what led to NASS Anytime.”
Beyond convenience, NASS Anytime reflects NASS’ multidisciplinary focus. Every lecture, case discussion, and technique video features NASS faculty, ensuring the education remains peer-reviewed, clinically relevant, and aligned with the society’s standards of quality. “The content is all from NASS faculty, so it’s very focused on what spine professionals actually need in practice,” Hilibrand said. “It’s peer-reviewed, clinically relevant, and reflects the multidisciplinary nature of our membership.” The result, Hilibrand said, is a shift from event-based learning to a more continuous model of engagement. “It’ll make education more of a year-round process rather than event-based,” he said. “Members can check out videos when they’re working through a tough case, mentoring a fellow, or even just trying to stay up to date. It’s not a replacement for live events, but it helps extend their value by improving access to archived materials.”
When selecting initial videos, Hilibrand noted that the team focused on content with staying power: lectures, surgical videos, and courses that remain relevant over time and appeal to different learning styles. “We paid attention to covering a broad range of topics that would resonate with both surgeons and nonsurgeons,” he said.
The platform is expected to appeal especially to early career professionals and international members, but NASS anticipates broad adoption over time. “Probably early-career professionals and international members will benefit most at first, just because access and flexibility matter a lot for those groups,” Hilibrand said. “But honestly, I think all members could find value depending on how they like to learn or what their schedule looks like.” In the long-term, Hilibrand envisions NASS Anytime as a cornerstone of professional growth within the society. “What excites me most is the shift NASS Anytime represents, from event-based education to something more continuous, flexible, and realistic for how adults actually learn,” he said. “We know from adult learning theory that people don’t just absorb information by sitting through a long lecture once or twice a year. They learn best through repeated exposure, short bursts of content, and real-world scenarios they can apply in practice. NASS Anytime gives us a chance to support that kind of learning, reinforcing what they learn at Annual Meetings and standalone courses, and offering regular touchpoints. It also allows us to highlight the valuable work coming out of our Sections on a more consistent basis.” “In five years, success would mean NASS Anytime isn’t just a library of videos – it’s something members use regularly to stay sharp, fill gaps, and feel connected to the broader spine community. Ideally, it becomes a part of how members can meaningfully engage with NASS all year long.”
NASS Anytime subscriptions are now available to all NASS members, with discounted pricing for those attending the NASS 2025 Annual Meeting in Denver. To learn more, visit nassanytime.spine.org.
