NASS 2026 Sneak Preview: The Connected Spine

The NASS 2026 Annual Meeting will return to a Wednesday-Saturday schedule in San Antonio, bringing with it a series of intentional updates designed to increase engagement, diversify programming, and create new opportunities for connection across the spine care community.

Under the leadership of Program Chairs Paul Saiz, MD; Jack Jallo, MD, PhD, FACS; and Richard Skolasky, ScD, alongside Special Program Chairs James Harrop, MD, and Michael Vives, MD, this year’s meeting reflects a continued evolution in how NASS delivers education, showcases research, and supports members at every stage of their careers.

Expanded abstract programming

In recognition of the rapidly evolving spine landscape, NASS has expanded its Annual Meeting abstract program to support a broader range of research, perspectives, and innovations shaping the future of care.

Introduction of special program chairs and expanded non-CME programming

Dedicated leadership is developing non-CME content, including symposia not eligible for CME due to disclosure conflicts; sessions featuring faculty with industry participation; and industry-supported educational programming opportunities.

Concurrent non-CME sessions

Non-CME programming will run alongside CME sessions; this expands both educational options and networking opportunities throughout the meeting.

New! Spotlight Podium Presentation Theater

This replaces traditional ePosters with expanded rapid-fire abstract presentations, which will be presented during lunch and breaks in a dedicated theater space.

Brand-new Saturday programming

Saturday will feature early-career abstract presentations and a newly developed half-day Advanced Practice Provider (APP) course will be offered.

Exclusive networking opportunities

The APP Welcome Reception will be held during the evening of Friday, October 16, and the first Emeritus Engagement Luncheon will be held on Thursday, October 15.

Special sessions

Distinguished Fellow of NASS (DFNS) Induction Ceremony will be held Wednesday, October 14.

Presidential Guest Speaker Jennifer Wallace will speak on Thursday, October 16, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
